## Biography

William E. McEuen (also credited as William Eugene McEuen or Bill McEuen) was an American film producer and record producer. He co-founded the Aspen Film Society with Steve Martin in 1976 and produced or executive produced several of Martin's films, including *The Jerk* (1979), *Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid* (1982) and *The Man with Two Brains* (1983), as well as *Pee-wee's Big Adventure* (1985).

McEuen was also active as a record producer and manager, notably for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, securing their first recording contract and producing albums such as *Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy* (1970) and *Will the Circle Be Unbroken* (1972). His younger brother, John McEuen, was a founding member and banjo player in the band. He received an Academy Award nomination for the short film *The Absent-Minded Waiter* (1977) and Grammy nominations for album packaging.
