## Biography

William Emms (29 January 1930 – May 1993) was an Australian-born schoolteacher and scriptwriter for British television. He contributed to series including *Z-Cars* (from 1965), *Callan* (1969–1970) and *Doctor Who* (1963).

His best-known work for television was the 1965 *Doctor Who* serial *Galaxy 4*. He later novelised the story for Target Books and wrote the 1986 gamebook *Mission to Venus* in the *Make Your Own Adventure with Doctor Who* range. Emms wrote for numerous other programmes between 1963 and 1980, among them *Redcap*, *R3*, *Ace of Wands*, *Crown Court* and *Crossroads*.
