William F. Claxton (also credited as Bill Claxton or William Claxton) was an American film and television director, producer and editor. He began his career as a film editor in the 1940s for Edward Small Productions before moving into directing feature films in the late 1940s and 1950s.

Claxton directed four episodes of the series *The Twilight Zone* (1959) between 1960 and 1962. He is also known for directing episodes of *The Rifleman* (1958), *Bonanza*, *Little House on the Prairie* (1974), *Dallas* (1978), *Fame* (1982) and *Highway to Heaven* (1984), as well as the feature *Night of the Lepus* (1972). He maintained a long association as producer and director on the syndicated series *This is the Life* from 1951 to 1980.
