## Biography

William Gao Hardy (Chinese: 高鑫; pinyin: Gāo Xīn) is an English actor and musician. He is known for his debut screen role as Tao Xu in the Netflix series *Heartstopper* (2022–2024), for which he received a nomination for a Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance. He reprised the role in the 2026 film *Heartstopper Forever*.

Gao was born on 20 February 2003 in South Croydon, London. He is the son of an English father and a Chinese mother. With his younger sister Olivia Hardy he formed the music duo Wasia Project in 2019. His other screen credits include the 2024 film *Sunrise*, in which he played Edward Loi.
