## Biography

William LeMassena (23 May 1916 – 19 January 1993) was an American actor. He was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and graduated from New York University. He made his Broadway debut in 1940 in a production of *The Taming of the Shrew* starring Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, and appeared with them in several subsequent productions.

LeMassena worked extensively in theatre, including musicals such as *Call Me Mister* and *Annie Get Your Gun*, and his final Broadway role in a 1988 revival of *The Night of the Iguana*. His film credits include *Carousel* (1956) as the Heavenly Friend, *Where's Poppa?* (1970) and *All That Jazz* (1979) as Jonesy Hecht. On television he played Ambrose Bingham in the soap opera *As the World Turns* from 1985 to 1992. He died of lung cancer in New Suffolk, New York.
