## Biography

William Lubtchansky was a French cinematographer. Born in Paris in 1937, he trained at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière and began his career as an assistant to Willy Kurant before working on Agnès Varda’s short *Elsa la Rose* (1965).

He shot more than 90 films, with long collaborations including fourteen features with Jacques Rivette, six with Jean-Luc Godard and eleven with Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet. Among his credits are *Duelle* (1976), *The Woman Next Door* (1981), *Shoah* (1985), *La Belle Noiseuse* (1991) and *Regular Lovers* (2005). He also worked with François Truffaut, Philippe Garrel and Otar Iosseliani.

Lubtchansky died in Paris in 2010.
