## Biography

William Marlowe (25 July 1930 – 31 January 2003) was a British actor and writer. He served in the Fleet Air Arm and initially hoped for a writing career before training as an actor at RADA.

His acting credits include recurring roles as DCI Bill Russell in *The Gentle Touch* (1980–84) and appearances in *Doctor Who* as Harry Mailer in *The Mind of Evil* (1971) and Lester in *Revenge of the Cybermen* (1975). Other notable parts were in *The Avengers*, *The Saint*, *The Persuaders!* and films such as *Cry Freedom* (1987) and *Revolution* (1985).

Writing under the pseudonym Neil Rudyard, he contributed episodes to *The Gentle Touch*, *Big Deal* and *Dempsey and Makepeace* (1985). He was married to actresses Linda Marlowe, Catherine Schell and Kismet Delgado.
