William Melling is a British actor born on 30 November 1994 in London, England. He began appearing in small television and film roles as a child, including a part in the sketch series *Smack the Pony* (2002) and the role of the Boy Next Door in *William and Mary* (2004).

He is best known for portraying the Gryffindor student Nigel (sometimes credited as Nigel Wolpert or Nigel 2nd Year) in five *Harry Potter* films: *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire* (2005), *Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix* (2007), *Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince* (2009), *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1* (2010) and *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2* (2011). He also appeared as Small Boy #1 in the drama *An Education* (2009) and as Rawdy in *Vanity Fair* (2004). Later credits include television roles in *Fried* (2014–2015), *Midsomer Murders* (2016) and *Frankie Drake Mysteries* (2017).

Melling is the son of actor Julian Firth and the brother of actress Isabella Melling.
