## Biography

Bill Nolan (born William Charles Nolan) was an American animator, director, writer and film editor. He began his career as a newspaper cartoonist in 1913 and later worked in animation studios including those of Raoul Barré and Pat Sullivan.

Nolan edited the 1924 silent fantasy *The Thief of Bagdad*. He contributed to the development of the rubber-hose animation style, worked on *Felix the Cat* cartoons, directed *Krazy Kat* shorts and animated on the feature *Gulliver's Travels* (1939). He also directed and wrote numerous shorts for Walter Lantz Productions.
