## Biography

William Perlberg was an American film producer. Born Wolf Perelberg in Łódź, Poland, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1905. He worked initially as a fur trader and later as a talent agent and assistant to Harry Cohn before entering film production in the mid-1930s.

Perlberg produced numerous films for major studios, including *The Song of Bernadette* (1943), *Miracle on 34th Street* (1947), *The Country Girl* (1954), *Teacher's Pet* (1958) and *The Tin Star* (1957). He frequently collaborated with writer-director George Seaton, and they established Perlberg-Seaton Productions. He received Academy Award nominations for best picture for *The Song of Bernadette* and two other films.

In 1928 he married singer Bobbe Brox of the Brox Sisters; they had one son.
