## Biography

William Sands (1923–1984) was an American film editor. He was credited as one of the editors, alongside Maury Winetrobe and supervising editor Robert Swink, on the 1968 musical *Funny Girl* directed by William Wyler. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing, as well as a nomination from the American Cinema Editors.

Sands began his career as an assistant editor in the 1950s, with an uncredited role on *The Big Country* (1958). His later editing credits include *The Only Game in Town* (1970), *Cactus in the Snow* (1971) and *Lady Ice* (1973). He returned to assistant work on *Wolfen* (1981).
