William Shockley is an American actor, musician, director, writer and producer. He was born on 17 September 1963 in Lawrence, Kansas, and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in political science. He began his career in theatre in Dallas before moving to Los Angeles after being cast by Paul Verhoeven in *RoboCop* (1987).

Shockley is best known for playing Hank Lawson in the CBS series *Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman* (1993–1998). His film roles include Andrew Carver in *Showgirls* (1995), as well as appearances in *The Adventures of Ford Fairlane* (1990) and *The Joyriders* (1999). He has also guest-starred in series such as *Quantum Leap*, *The Pretender* and *NCIS: Los Angeles*.

Shockley has written and directed films including the 2025 western *Long Shadows*. He is a partner in the production company Tiki Tane Pictures.
