William Arthur Squire was a Welsh actor of stage, film and television. He was born on 29 April 1917 in Neath, Glamorgan, and died on 3 May 1989 in London.

As a stage actor, Squire performed at Stratford-upon-Avon and the Old Vic. He replaced Richard Burton as King Arthur in the Broadway production of *Camelot*. His screen roles included Hunter in the series *Callan* (1967), Thomas More in *Anne of the Thousand Days* (1969), the voice of Gandalf in the 1978 animated *The Lord of the Rings*, and the Shadow in the 1979 *Doctor Who* serial *The Armageddon Factor*. He was married to the actress Juliet Harmer.
