## Biography

William Wiard (1927–1987) was an American film and television director. He began his career in 1955 as a sound editor on the series *Dragnet* before moving into directing in the mid-1960s.

Wiard directed more than 150 television episodes, including six in the first season of *M*A*S*H* (1972), as well as episodes of *Get Smart* (1965), *The Rockford Files* (1974), *The Streets of San Francisco* (1972), *Cannon* (1971) and *Scarecrow and Mrs. King* (1983). His sole theatrical feature was the western *Tom Horn* (1980). He also directed several made-for-television films in the 1970s and 1980s.

He was married to Georgiana Judith Sherman, daughter of director George Sherman, and they had three children.
