William Wise was an American actor and playwright. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began his career with stage work, including Broadway appearances in *Ah, Wilderness!* (1988) and *The Speed of Darkness* (1991).

His film and television roles include Willis Grinnel in *In the Bedroom* (2001), Wade Bowman in *Thirteen Conversations About One Thing* (2001), Dr. Louis Traff in *Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital* (2004), and multiple appearances in the *Law & Order* franchise. He also wrote the play adapted for the television short *Traveler's Rest* (1993). Wise died on 9 September 2024.
