## Biography

Willy Millowitsch was a German stage and television actor and director. Born in Cologne, he came from a long-established theatrical family and took over the Volkstheater Millowitsch from his father in 1940, directing it until 1996.

He appeared in numerous films and television productions, often in Cologne dialect roles, and wrote popular folk songs. His most widely known international role was as Fritz Spritz in the 1985 comedy *National Lampoon's European Vacation*.

In later years he starred as Kommissar Klefisch in a detective series from 1990 to 1996. He received honorary citizenship of Cologne in 1989.
