## Biography

Winrich Kolbe (1940–2012) was a German-American television director and producer. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, he began his career in the 1970s at Universal Pictures as an associate producer on series including *McCloud* before moving into directing.

He directed episodes of numerous series, including *The Rockford Files*, *Magnum, P.I.*, *Knight Rider* and *Battlestar Galactica*. Kolbe is best known for helming 48 episodes across four *Star Trek* series; these included the *Star Trek: The Next Generation* finale “All Good Things...”, which received the 1995 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation.

He also directed episodes of *24*, *Star Trek: Voyager* (including its pilot) and other programmes. After retiring from directing around 2003, Kolbe taught at the Savannah College of Art and Design until 2007.
