Xavier Legrand is a French actor, director and screenwriter. Born on 28 March 1979 in Melun, he began acting as a child, appearing as Babinot in Louis Malle’s *Au Revoir les Enfants* (1987).

Legrand later trained and worked as a theatre actor before moving into directing. His short film *Just Before Losing Everything* (2013) was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. His feature debut *Custody* (2017) premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Silver Lion for Best Director, and received four César Awards. His second feature, *The Successor* (2023), premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
