## Biography

Yash Chopra was an Indian film director and producer. He began his career assisting his brother B. R. Chopra and made his directorial debut with *Dhool Ka Phool* (1959). In 1970 he founded the production company Yash Raj Films.

Chopra directed films including *Deewaar* (1975), *Darr* (1993), *Dil To Pagal Hai* (1997), *Veer-Zaara* (2004) and *Jab Tak Hai Jaan* (2012). He produced *Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge* (1995), directed by his son Aditya Chopra. He died on 21 October 2012 in Mumbai.
