## Biography

Yasuyoshi Tokuma was a Japanese film producer and businessman. He served as president of Tokuma Shoten and, from 1974 to 2000, of Daiei Film. He was a founding supporter of Studio Ghibli and a close associate of Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki.

Tokuma produced or served as executive producer on numerous Studio Ghibli features, including *Porco Rosso* (1992, producer), *Only Yesterday* (1991, producer), *Princess Mononoke* (1997, executive producer) and *Spirited Away* (2001, executive producer). He died on 20 September 2000 in Tokyo.
