## Biography

Yoshiaki Nishimura is a Japanese animation producer. He joined Studio Ghibli in 2002 after studying in the United States and worked on promotions and advertising for several of its films, including *Howl's Moving Castle* (2004), *Tales from Earthsea* (2006) and *Ponyo* (2008).

His first feature as producer was *The Tale of The Princess Kaguya* (2013), directed by Isao Takahata, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. He also produced *When Marnie Was There* (2014) for the studio. In 2015 he founded Studio Ponoc, where he has produced *Mary and the Witch's Flower* (2017), *Modest Heroes* (2018) and *The Imaginary* (2023). He has served as co-producer on *The Boy and the Heron* (2023).
