## Biography

Youli Galperine was a Russian composer and pianist who lived and worked in France. He trained at the Glière Conservatory in Kiev, the State Music Institute in Ufa and the Gnessin Academy in Moscow. After teaching and composing in Chelyabinsk and Moscow, he moved to Paris in 1991, where he taught piano and composition at conservatories in Ivry-sur-Seine and Paris.

Galperine composed orchestral, chamber and vocal works, as well as music for theatre. His film credits include *Journal IV* (2005) and the score for *The Past* (2013), co-composed with his son Evgueni Galperine. He was the father of composers Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine.
