## Biography

Yuu Shimaka (also credited as Yū Shimaka and Yutaka Shimaka) was a Japanese actor and voice actor. Born in Nagano Prefecture on 6 May 1949, he worked with agencies including Production Baobab and Production Aigumi, and appeared in both live-action film and extensive voice work until his death on 28 July 2019.

His film credits include the role of Jingoro Hara in Akira Kurosawa’s *Kagemusha* (1980). As a voice actor he contributed to numerous anime series and films, including the Mamma Aiuto Gang in *Porco Rosso* (1992), Dig and Picarro Calvino in *Cowboy Bebop* (1998), Senba in *Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion* (2006), and Berkeley in *Ergo Proxy* (2006). He was also the long-serving Japanese voice of the Disney character Goofy in dubs and related projects.
