## Biography

Yuen Kai-Chi, also credited as Kai-Chi Yuen or K. C. Yuen, is a Hong Kong screenwriter and occasional director. He studied at the University of South Australia, obtaining a master's degree, before returning to Hong Kong in 1982 to work as a screenwriter, initially for Shaw Brothers.

His credits include the screenplay for *A Chinese Ghost Story* (1987), for which he won the Golden Horse Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and writing contributions to *Once Upon a Time in China* (1991), *The Legend of Drunken Master* (1994), *Fight Back to School 2* (1992) and *The Chinese Feast* (1995). He has also served as assistant director and producer on several films, and directed *Hot Cop in the City* (2004).

Yuen has taught film and creative writing courses at institutions including Hong Kong Baptist University, the Open University of Hong Kong and others.
