## Biography

Yuji Nomi (also credited as Yūji Nomi) is a Japanese composer and arranger. Born on 19 July 1958 in Tokyo, he began composing after dropping out of Chuo University and creating music for a friend's art performances. Ryuichi Sakamoto noticed his work and supervised his first album, Oshare TV, released in 1986.

Nomi collaborated with Sakamoto on soundtracks including Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise (1987) and The Last Emperor (1987). His first Studio Ghibli score was for Whisper of the Heart (1995). He later composed for The Cat Returns (2002) and shorts for the Ghibli Museum, as well as the series Nichijou (2011).
