## Biography

Yumi Ito (伊藤ユミ), also credited as Tsukiko Ito and as a member of the singing duo The Peanuts (ザ・ピーナッツ), was a Japanese singer and actress. With her identical twin sister Emi Ito, she formed The Peanuts, who debuted in 1959 and performed until their retirement in 1975.

She is best known for her role, alongside her sister, as one of the Shobijin (twin fairies) in the Toho kaiju films *Mothra* (1961), *Mothra vs. Godzilla* (1964) and *Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster* (1964). The duo originated these characters and performed the associated songs.

Ito was born on 1 April 1941 in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, and died on 18 May 2016.
