## Biography

Yuri Borienko (born Jan Bolesław Kadlubowski) was a Polish wrestler and actor. He appeared in British films and television from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s, often in supporting roles as imposing or Russian characters, drawing on his wrestling background.

Borienko is best known for playing Grunther, a henchman of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, in the James Bond film *On Her Majesty's Secret Service* (1969). His other film credits include *The Jigsaw Man* (1983) as the Russian trainer and *Superman IV: The Quest for Peace* (1987) as a Russian general. Television work encompassed guest roles in series such as *The Persuaders!* (1971), *Department S* (1969), *The Professionals* (1977) and *Strangers*.

He retired from acting after 1987 and later lived in Canada, where he died in 1999.
