Biography
Edmar Morel was a Brazilian journalist and writer. Born in Fortaleza, he began his career in local newspapers before moving to Rio de Janeiro in 1932, where he worked for publications including Jornal do Brasil, O Globo and O Cruzeiro, specialising in investigative reporting and books such as A Revolta da Chibata (1959).
In 1942 he assisted Orson Welles with research for the 'Jangadeiros' segment of the unfinished film It's All True. Footage of Morel was later included in the 1993 documentary It's All True: Based on an Unfinished Film by Orson Welles, in which he appeared as himself; he also featured in related documentaries including A Linguagem de Orson Welles (1990).
