Biography
Peg Phillips (born Margaret Linton) was an American actress. She began her professional acting career in her late 60s after retiring as an accountant and enrolling in drama classes at the University of Washington.
She originated the role of Ruth-Anne Miller, the storekeeper, on the television series Northern Exposure (1990–1995), appearing in over 100 episodes. The part was initially intended to be intermittent but became a regular role. She received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1993. Other credits include guest appearances on ER (2000) as Mrs Duffy, 7th Heaven (1996–1999) as Mrs Hinkle, Touched by an Angel (1996) and the television film How the West Was Fun (1994).
Phillips was born on 20 September 1918 in Everett, Washington, and died on 7 November 2002 in the Seattle area.
