Biography
Thomas Adlam was a British soldier and recipient of the Victoria Cross. Born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, he served with the 7th Battalion, The Bedfordshire Regiment during the First World War and was awarded the VC for his actions at Thiepval on 27 September 1916 during the Battle of the Somme.
In civilian life Adlam worked as a teacher. He later served in the Second World War with the Royal Engineers, reaching the rank of lieutenant-colonel. His voice recording appears in Peter Jackson's 2018 documentary They Shall Not Grow Old.
