Biography
Tracy Edwards is a British sailor. In 1989 she skippered the first all-female crew to compete in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race aboard the yacht Maiden, finishing second in class and winning two legs. She was the first woman to receive the Yachtsman of the Year Trophy and was appointed MBE.
Edwards is the central subject of the 2019 documentary film Maiden, directed by Alex Holmes, in which she appears as herself. The film draws on archive footage from the original voyage and later interviews with Edwards and her crew.
