Biography
Wulf Hein is a German experimental archaeologist and archaeotechnician. Born in 1959, he is based in Dorn-Assenheim and has worked independently in the field since 1990, following a carpentry apprenticeship. He specialises in reconstructing prehistoric tools, buildings, clothing and musical instruments using period methods.
Hein also works as a model maker, author and illustrator, and serves as a scientific advisor and on-screen contributor to documentary films and television productions about prehistory. He appeared as himself in the 2010 documentary Cave of Forgotten Dreams, directed by Werner Herzog, and has featured in other programmes including Lost Worlds and Hidden Treasures (2021) and episodes of Civilisations (2018).
