Biography
Achala Sachdev was an Indian actress. She began her career as a child actor and made her film debut in Fashionable Wife (1938). Before partition she worked at All India Radio in Lahore, and afterwards at the station in Delhi.
She appeared in more than 130 Hindi films and was frequently cast in mother and grandmother roles. Her credits include Waqt (1965), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) as Simran's grandmother, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). She also worked on several Yash Raj Films productions.
