Biography
Adam Brooks is a Canadian screenwriter, director and actor. Born in Toronto in 1956, he wrote the screenplay for Practical Magic (1998) with Robin Swicord and Akiva Goldsman. His other screenwriting credits include French Kiss (1995), Beloved (1998), Wimbledon (2004) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004).
Brooks made his feature debut as writer-director with Almost You (1985), which won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. He also wrote and directed Definitely, Maybe (2008) and The Invisible Circus (2001). He has created and written the television series Imposters (2017) and contributed to Mozart in the Jungle.
He has served as a council member and on the board of the Writers Guild of America East Foundation, and teaches film at the Columbia University Graduate School of the Arts. He lives in New York City.
