Biography
Adhemar Ferreira da Silva (1927–2001) was a Brazilian actor and athlete from São Paulo. He first played the role of Death in Vinicius de Moraes’s stage play Orfeu da Conceição (1956) and reprised it in Marcel Camus’s film Black Orpheus (1959).
He is also known for Olympic gold medals in the triple jump at the 1952 Helsinki and 1956 Melbourne Games, as well as seven world records between 1951 and 1956. His other screen appearances include the 1988 television series Abolition.
