Biography

Agnès Callamard is a French human rights activist. She has served as Secretary General of Amnesty International since March 2021. Previously, she was the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions from 2017 to 2021, during which she led the human rights inquiry into the 2018 assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Callamard appears as Self - Interviewee in the 2020 documentary The Dissident, which examines Khashoggi's murder and its aftermath. She has also appeared in other television news and documentary programmes discussing human rights issues. She holds degrees from Sciences Po Grenoble, Howard University and the New School for Social Research.
