Biography
Aitana Sánchez-Gijón is a Spanish-Italian actress. Born in Rome on 5 November 1968, she moved to Spain as a child and made her screen debut in the mid-1980s.
She first gained attention in Spain with Going South Shopping (1989) and later appeared in international productions such as A Walk in the Clouds (1995), The Machinist (2004) and Parallel Mothers (2021). She played Mónica in Bitter Christmas (2026). Sánchez-Gijón has also worked extensively in theatre and television.
In 2025 she received the Goya de Honor and the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes.
