Biography
Aivi Tran is a Vietnamese-American composer and pianist, best known as one half of the electronic music duo Aivi & Surasshu alongside Steven 'surasshu' Velema. The pair met in 2012 and released their debut album The Black Box in 2013 before being recommended by storyboard artist Jeff Liu to Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar.
Tran and Velema composed the instrumental score for the Cartoon Network series Steven Universe (2013–2019), creating character-specific leitmotifs and collaborating on vocal themes including the end credits song 'Love Like You'. They also provided music for Steven Universe: The Movie (2019) and the follow-up series Steven Universe Future (2019–2020).
In 2022 Tran founded the independent label Infloresce Records. The duo have additionally scored music for video games and Google Doodles projects.
