Biography
Al Smith is a British writer for television, radio and theatre. He is a graduate of the BBC Writers Academy and early in his career won the BFI Wellcome Trust Screenwriting Prize.
His television credits include episodes of EastEnders (2007–2009), Holby City (2008–2010), Doctors (2008), Casualty (2007–2025), The Coroner (2015), Father Brown (2016) and Shakespeare Live! From the RSC (2016). He co-created and served as executive producer on the BBC series The Cut (2009–2010).
For radio, he created the BBC Radio 4 series Life Lines, which has won multiple awards including the BBC Audio Drama Award for Best Original Series.
