Biography
Alain Dostie is a Canadian cinematographer born on 12 September 1943 in Quebec City. He began his career at the National Film Board of Canada in the 1960s as an assistant cameraman before working as director of photography on documentaries and features, including early collaborations with Denys Arcand.
Dostie is known for his cinematography on Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould (1993), The Red Violin (1998), Silk (2007), The Confessional (1995) and the television miniseries Nuremberg (2000). He won Genie Awards for Best Achievement in Cinematography for Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould and The Red Violin, and a Jutra Award for the latter.
