Biography
Alan Parker is a British composer and guitarist. Born on 26 August 1944 in Matlock, Derbyshire, he trained in classical guitar with Julian Bream at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He began his career as a session guitarist in the late 1960s, working with artists including Cat Stevens, Frank Sinatra, David Bowie and Ella Fitzgerald, and playing in groups such as Blue Mink.
Parker has composed scores for feature films including Jaws 3-D (1983), What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) and Stormbreaker (2006), as well as numerous television productions such as Coast and Victoria & Albert. He has also created a large body of library music for film and television, and music for commercials.
