Biography
Alejandro Jodorowsky is a Chilean-born French filmmaker, screenwriter and actor. Born on 17 February 1929 in Tocopilla, Chile, he moved to Paris in the 1950s where he studied mime with Marcel Marceau and worked in avant-garde theatre before relocating to Mexico.
He is best known for his surreal films El Topo (1970), on which he also served as writer, composer, production designer, costume designer and lead actor, and The Holy Mountain (1973). Later works include Santa Sangre (1989), The Dance of Reality (2013) and Endless Poetry (2016). He holds Chilean and French citizenship and has also written comics and books on spirituality.
