Biography
Aleksandr Nikolaevich Misharin (also credited as A. Misharin) was a Soviet and Russian screenwriter, playwright, novelist and actor. Born in Moscow on 6 April 1939, he graduated from the Shchepkin Theatre School in 1960 and later studied at the Higher Courses for Screenwriters and Directors.
He was a close collaborator of Andrei Tarkovsky, co-writing the screenplay for Mirror (1975) and appearing in small roles in both Solaris (1972), as Shanakhan, Chairman of the Anri Berton Commission, and Mirror. Misharin wrote more than thirty plays and screenplays, often with Andrei Veytsler, and served as senior editor of Russian periodicals. He received the title of Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation in 2000 and died in Moscow on 13 April 2008.
