Biography
Aleksey Vladimirovich Batalov (also credited as Aleksei Batalov) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor, director, screenwriter and pedagogue. He was born on 20 November 1928 in Vladimir and died on 15 June 2017.
Batalov joined the Moscow Art Theatre in 1953 and left three years later to focus on film. He is known for his roles as Boris in The Cranes Are Flying (1957), Gosha in Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears (1980) and the narrator in Hedgehog in the Fog (1975). He was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1976 and a Hero of Socialist Labour in 1989.
