Biography
Alex O'Loughlin is an Australian actor, writer and director. He is known for portraying Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett on the CBS series Hawaii Five-0 (2010–2020), on which he also directed and wrote episodes.
Born on 24 August 1976 in Canberra, he trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, graduating in 2002. He began his career in Australian television and film, with early roles including the lead in Oyster Farmer (2004) and appearances in Moonlight (2007–2008) and Three Rivers (2009–2010). Other film credits include The Back-up Plan (2010).
