Biography
Alex Yang (also credited as Shun-Ching Yang or 楊順清) is a Taiwanese screenwriter and director. Born in 1965, he graduated from the Dramatic Arts department of Taiwan's National University of the Arts. He wrote and directed Candy Sky, Taiwan's first stage play starring performers with disabilities.
Yang collaborated with director Edward Yang on A Brighter Summer Day (1991), serving as co-writer, assistant director, acting coach and actor. The film’s four credited screenwriters, including Yang, shared the Golden Horse Award for Best Original Screenplay. He later worked as acting coach on Edward Yang’s Yi Yi (2000).
As a director, his feature films include The Trigger (2002) and Taipei 21 (2003).
