Biography
Alexander Janko is a composer, orchestrator, director and writer. Classically trained as a cellist, he graduated from Princeton University and moved to Hollywood, where he has worked on more than 65 major motion pictures.
He began his film career as an orchestrator for David Newman on Tommy Boy (1995) and Anastasia (1997). He arranged and conducted music for R.E.M. on Man on the Moon (1999). Janko composed the score for My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002), the highest-grossing romantic comedy of its time; the RIAA-certified soundtrack won a BMI Film Music award.
His directorial debut, Year by the Sea (2016), which he also wrote and scored, won 16 festival awards including Best Film and Best Screenplay.
