Biography
Alexandre Rockwell is an American film director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on 18 August 1956, he is the grandson of the animator Alexandre Alexeieff.
His early features include Lenz (1982) and Hero (1983). He directed In the Soup (1992), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and the segment 'The Wrong Man' in the anthology Four Rooms (1995). Other credits include Somebody to Love (1994), Louis & Frank (1998), 13 Moons (2002), Pete Smalls Is Dead (2010) and Sweet Thing (2020). In 2017 he was appointed head of directing at the graduate film department of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
