Biography
Alfonso Gatto (17 July 1909 – 8 March 1976) was an Italian poet, writer, art critic and occasional actor. Born in Salerno, he appeared in a small number of films from the 1940s to the 1970s, often in supporting roles.
He is known for playing Andrea in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964), the Doctor in Pasolini’s Theorem (1968), and Nocio in Francesco Rosi’s Illustrious Corpses (1976). He also appeared in Caro Michele (1976) and earlier in Outcry (1946).
Gatto died in a car accident near Orbetello, Tuscany.
