Biography
Alida Rouffe was a French actress. Born Joséphine Marie Rouffe on 20 March 1874 in Bordeaux, she was the daughter of mime artist Louis Rouffe. She spent much of her career on stage in the south of France, performing in music hall, revue and opera at venues including the Alcazar in Marseille and the Opéra de Nîmes.
Rouffe appeared in numerous films, often in supporting roles. She is best known for playing Honorine Cabanis in Marcel Pagnol's Marseille trilogy: Marius (1931), Fanny (1932) and César (1936). She also appeared as Céleste, the priest's maid, in Pagnol's The Baker's Wife (1938).
She died on 21 November 1949 in Marseille, aged 75.
